Friday, December 11th, 2009There are lots of shades to choose from, varying in color, size, shapes and style. What important health points should I remember when buying a pair of sunglasses? A sunglasses or shades were invented to provide the wearer visual comfort in very bright light. How dark the tint should be would depend on how much you want to reduce the outdoor brightness. Aside from visual comfort, sunglasses also serve to protect you from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.
Most sunglasses these days already have built-in UV protection. Note that UV protection is independent of tint-darker tint does not equal better UV protection. Most sunglasses have a sticker or tag indicating a UV protection feature. Sunglass frame should fit close to your face for better UV protection and shouldn’t slip off your nose, pinch your temples of ears or be too heavy. For drivers constantly exposed to glare, polarized lenses are good choice.
